Can I visit my child while at Wellspring Florida?
Yes! And in fact, family involvement is strongly encouraged. Visiting weekends for Wellspring Florida occur on the Family Workshop weekends only; dates are provided in the enrollment packet. It is highly recommended that you attend a Family Workshop so that you can learn how best to support your camper once he or she returns home. There are time slots provided during all of these Workshops to visit with your camper. Once you have attended one of our Family Workshops, you may use a subsequent workshop weekend solely for visitation with your camper if you’d like. Your camper may leave campus with you during these visitation hours. Your camper may also go to your hotel with you in the evenings during Family Workshop weekends if you’d like.
How many roommates do campers have? And how are rooms configured?
You will have 1 or 2 roommates. Rooms are suite-style, so each room has its own bathroom or shares with the room next door.
How are roommates chosen?
Campers are assigned to Activity Groups of 10-12 campers based on gender, age and compatibility (based on questionnaire answers). Roommates will be other camper(s) from within your group.
What if my child has never participated in the types of activities offered at Wellspring Florida?
At Wellspring Florida, we are accustomed to catering to all skill and fitness levels in our activities. We also operate on a Challenge by Choice philosophy. Our goal is to encourage enjoyment of these activities both at camp and after returning home. If your camper is nervous about a certain activity, rest assured that our professional team of staff will help your camper to reach his or her goals, at his or her own speed.
What is the laundry procedure?
Laundry is handled weekly by a professional laundry service. There are no extra fees associated with this service; it is already included in camp tuition.
What is the camper to staff ratio?
Our ratio is generally one staff for every 5-6 campers.
- How old are your staff members? Are they well-trained?
Our typical staff member is a college graduate in their mid 20’s to early 30’s. Our staff members are very well-qualified in their respective specialties. With 12 summer programs internationally, as well as weight loss boarding schools and after-school clubs, Wellspring attracts the leading professionals in a range of weight loss-related fields. What is the Florida location like?
Based at Admiral Farrugut Academy, we have great suite-style accommodations and access to top-notch athletic and fitness facilities. We are 2 miles from the beach and the surrounding area offers many great excursions, from water parks, to paved biking/walking trails, snorkeling, ropes course, and many others.
